Classy digs for seafood dishes, indeed!
After an incredible meal at the new Fishmonger’s Market, a classy casual European-style seafood restaurant near the San Diego airport, it’s safe to say this seafood dining destination is best-in-class, accessible and unforgettable!
Location-wise, the stylish Fishmonger’s Market is just down the street from the San Diego Airport on Hancock Street, and it’s quite convenient to residents of Downtown San Diego, Old Town, Bankers Hill, Mission Hills and Hillcrest. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, and the establishment is elegant, but competitively priced.
Fishmonger’s Market oozes a “family” vibe, so if you prefer cold, distant, and unpleasant service, don’t go to Fishmonger’s. But if you value sincere customer service, and a General Manager, servers and fishmongers’ that care about you and delight in pleasing you — then you will relish the “we treat you like family” culture of Fishmonger’s Market.
Now you may be wondering, what exactly is a fishmonger?
Wikipedia states: “A fishmonger is someone who sells raw fish and seafood. Fishmongers can be wholesalers or retailers, and are trained at selecting and purchasing, handling, gutting, boning, filleting, displaying, merchandising and selling their product.” So now that you know what/who a Fishmonger is, when you go to Fishmongers, be sure to step to the back of the restaurant to meet their own, and try a free sample of their exquisite smoked fish!
With this being our first experience at Fishmonger’s Market, we were drawn to seafood classics including their Lobster Roll, New England Clam Chowder, Sushi and Smoked Tuna Melt. Something unique peaked our interests as well, so we tried Fishmonger Market’s Lobster Mac-n-Cheese! To say we were in seventh heaven would be an understatement. From presentation to flavor, Fishmonger’s Market is the best of the best. If you’re curious — the grand champion dish of our lunch-event was the almighty Smoked Tuna Melt!
One delicious bite after another, Fishmonger’s Market delivered above and beyond our expectations.
