We loved the Saturday brunch at Romesco Mexiterranean Cocina in Little Italy in San Diego. If you’re looking for a brunch in downtown San Diego, go to Little Italy and visit Romesco!
As soon as we entered, we were greeted by one of their lovely hosts who got us seated right away. We loved the ambiance and cleanliness of Romesco. Very bright lighting, modern decor, and a fun hip atmosphere had brunch lovers like us rejoicing!
Most views on the terrace give a phenomenal view of Little Italy city life. It’s a classy place, elegant even, but definitely not pretentious. The service was great — super attentive without being too nosy. Everyone that worked here was extremely polite, which as you know, is not true with all elegant establishments downtown.
Romesco has a great looking drink menu, so we tried the Not Your Abuelito’s Cafe drink which had Tequila, Cafe Lolita, Mole Negro, Kalini Coconut, and their house cold brew coffee. Even if you’re not a tequila drinker, we recommend this drink unreservedly. Not only is it a visual spectacle — it’s flavor is supreme. Romesco has endless mimosas, but we shared just 1 glass…promise.
We wanted to try a VARIETY from their brunch menu, so we ordered various items to indulge. First, we started with the Roadside Ahi Tuna Tostada which was absolutely amazing. The Tuna was mild but packed a delicious flavor with their Ponzu Salsa. We also ordered the Beef Filet Mignon Carpaccio off of their Tapas menu. The beef just melts in your mouth. Romesco’s knows how to blend the beef, oil and vinegar really well.
Next, we shared Huevos Rancheros which was near perfect. Their tomato sauce is unforgettable. Lastly, we both shared their brunch Flan dessert. I won’t mince words — this is the best flan I’ve had in a long, long time.
One bit of advice if you decide to eat at Romesco’s, is to make sure you save room for dessert. Trust, it’s worth it.
